Sample interview questions

These are some of the sample questions that might be asked during interview:

1) Education and training
  • Why did you decide to go to the college
  • Tell us about your college course
  • Do/did you enjoy any particular part of your studies more than the rest?
  • Can you tell me about a project that you worked on at school/ university?
2) Employment history
  • Have you had any work experience?
  • Tell me a bout your last job.
  • Why did you leave your last job?
  • What have you done since you left your last job?
  • What have you achieved that you are most proud of?
  • Tell me about a problem at work that you have had to deal with.
  • What would you do if you were faced with a problem you could not deal with?
  • What are the most satisfying aspects of your current/ last job?
3) Interests

  • What are your hobbies or interests?
4) General.

  • What are your strengths?
  • What are your weaknesses?
  • Why should we employ you?
  • Which other organisations have you applied to?
  • What does 'equal opportunities' mean to you?
  • How would you put equal opportunities into practice?
5) The job.

  • Tell me what you know a bout the organisation.
  • Why do you want to work for this company?
  • What do you think you can contribute to this company?
